About Lyn C. A. Gardner

I grew up beside Keuka Lake in upstate New York, but my family has since gathered in coastal Virginia. With master's degrees in English literature and library science, I've been the editor at a private maritime museum and currently serve as cataloger at a public library. In addition to writing, art, and photography, I enjoy fencing and playing folk guitar and harpsichord. I've got a music minor (harpsichord) and am slowly working on a photography degree.

I write fantasy, mystery, science fiction, horror, and mainstream/literary fiction and poetry. I've had stories, poems, art, and articles published in venues such as Abyss & Apex, American Arts Quarterly, Best of the Rest 2, The Cape Rock, Challenging Destiny, The Doom of Camelot, Ideomancer, Journal of the Fantastic in the Arts, The Leading Edge, Legends of the Pendragon, Magazine of Speculative Poetry, Mythic Delirium, Star*Line, Strange Horizons, Talebones, and Z Miscellaneous, among others. (Complete credits are available under the Writing, Art, and Editing links.) Two stories and a poem earned honorable mention in The Year's Best Fantasy and Horror (12th, 13th, and 15th editions). In 2004, I attended the Clarion West Writers Workshop (check out our class website). I'm currently a member of Broad Universe, Mystery Writers of America, Science Fiction Poetry Association, Sisters in Crime (Chesapeake Chapter), Virginia Library Association (and editor of their quarterly journal, Virginia Libraries), and The Wolfe Pack. I've written under many variations of my legal name and nickname (and occasionally my SCA name, Deirdre Ní Fionnula). The majority of my publications prior to 2008 appeared under the byline C. A. Gardner.

My father, Delbert R. Gardner, coined the title "The Gardner Castle." A published poet, fiction writer, essayist, and critic, as well as a former English professor and veteran of World War II, he has authorized me to submit his current work and design his website. "You have reached the Gardner Castle. If you would like us to return your call, please leave a message after the beep."--DRG
